GreenPak is marking its one millionth distribution of the green recycling bags. Households within those Local Councils that are working with GreenPak are being given these free recycling bags with the aim to promote "Recycling on Tuesday".
For the last 14 months, the extensive education campaign underpinning this initiative has been a continuous effort in terms of raising more awareness about the importance of recycling and the separation of waste in various localities served by GreenPak.
Representatives from GreenPak have been visiting various households, giving out free rolls of green bags together with an educational leaflet whilst answering any queries by the residents.

Ing. Mario Schembri, CEO of GreenPak said, "GreenPak has always believed that the key to success in increasing recycling participation is through education as this creates awareness and encourages public participation. Through our investment in this education campaign across Malta and Gozo, we are aiming to increase Malta's overall recycling tonnage rates while boosting recycling participation rates so that the Local Councils working with GreenPak reduce their costs related to waste recovery and therefore redirect more funds into the up keeping of their respective locality."
Furthermore, residents in the 27 localities serviced by GreenPak have been continuously rewarded for their effort and commitment in recycling even more. As most localities registered an increase in recycling participation, GreenPak had launched a Reward-Reuse-Recycle (3R) campaign in appreciation of the public's commitment towards recycling more.
Since November 2010, GreenPak representatives have been giving out 500 hampers with free gifts to unsuspecting residents who have through the use of the recycling bag door-to-door collections or by disposing their separated waste in GreenPak's recycling banks have helped make a difference in their locality.
Each green-cloth hamper, adeptly named the 3R Bag, doubles up as a carrier bag and included a wide selection of consumer products ranging from biscuits, toiletries, dairy products and various other groceries. GreenPak is supported by some 370 companies with Malta Dairy Products, V.J. Salomone Marketing, Brincs Biscuits, Beautimport, Golden Harvest, Nectar, Drop Chemicals, Kemimport, McDonalds, Vivian Corporation, Tal-Qroqq Confectionery, International Merchants and Von Brockdorff Imports donating products towards this initiative.
