Kalkara Local Council

Mqabba Local Council
30th March 2010 saw the launch of the agreement between GreenPak and Mqabba Local Council to collaborate on recyclable waste separation and collection from the locality. Ing Mario Schembri, Hon Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, and Mayor. Emanuel Galea, were in attendance. Students from Mqabba primary school were also present for the launch.

Żebbuġ Local Council
The launch of the agreement between GreenPak and Żebbuġ Local Council took place on the 7thApril 2010. The locality of Żebbuġ had been without
Recycling Banks for four years and thus, the launch of the collaboration between GreenPak and Żebbuġ Council is as an important step to boost recycling initiatives within the locality. Ing Mario Schembri, Hon Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information and Mayor Alfred Grixti were in attendance. Scouts from Żebbuġ Scout Club kicked off the proceedings by placing recyclable waste in the appropriate bins at one of the 10 new GreenPak Recycling Bank locations.

Żejtun Local Council
The provision of the Green Recycling Bag coupled with the Council's education campaign is yielding positive results. In a matter of a few weeks,
recyclable material collected from Żejtun households increased from 3.5 tonnes to 5.38 tonnes per week. Considering that Żejtun is a community of some 4,000 households, this means that at least 68% of the packaging generated in this locality is being sent for recycling. This is amongst the highest locality collection rates in Malta.

In a bid to further increase their waste recovery, the three Gozitan Local Councils of Sannat, Xaghra and Xewkija have teamed up with GreenPak to
promote and encourage waste separation. These Local Councils are currently recovering 42% or 2.9 tonnes of the total possible amount of recyclable waste from their localities. Through this partnership, these Local Councils have the potential to recover 6.9 tonnes per week.
The scheme was launched in Gozo by the CEO of Green Dot Malta Ing Mario Schembri, together with Xewkija Mayor Dr Monica Vella, Xaghra Mayor Joseph Cordina, and Sannat Mayor Philip Vella, in the presence of Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information Dr Chris Said, and Dr Stefan Buontempo, the Labour Party Spokesperson on Local Government.
